This collection consists of letters and exhibit catalogs concerning British painter and designer Ford Madox Brown (1821-1893), compiled originally by University of Kansas English Department faculty member William Doremus Paden.

A collection of six letters by poet and biographer Mathilde Blind. Correspondents include Charles Rowley, a social reformer and figure involved in the Manchester, England arts scene, pre-Raphaellite painter Frederic Shields, and a "Mr. Dolman."

William Doremus Paden received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in 1921, 1925, and 1935 from Yale University. He taught English at the University of Kansas from 1935-1973, receiving full professor status in 1951. This collection consists of congratulatory letters about his retirement in 1973.
