Overview Collection includes 35mm photo slide negatives of various artwork created by Albert Bloch, an American Modernist artist. Bloch also served as head of the Department of Painting and Drawing at the University of Kansas from 1922 to 1947. The collections features slides of completed artwork, drafts, and close-up details shots of Bloch's artwork from 1906 to 1959. Overview

This collection from a University of Kansas graduate and artist best known for his landscapes and portraits, contain letters that Dennis K. Helm received from many other Kansas artists, including Elizabeth Layton and his mentor, Robert Sudlow. Also in the collection are Helm's outgoing letters concerning other Kansas artists, manuscripts of his articles and essays regarding artists Robert Sudlow and Albert Bloch, and a posthumous sampler of Helm's writings, compiled in 1993 by Don Helm.

Nora E. Crawford attended the University of Kansas from 1926 to 1930, studying under Albert Bloch and Raymond J. Eastwood and graduating with a bachelors in painting. The collection includes photographs of her along with classmates and professors at the University of Kansas; sketches she drew of human figures and nature; water color and ink wash paintings; and newspaper clippings about professors and classmates Nora knew from her time at KU.
