 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

Correspondence refers to the role of the Dallas office in the daily affairs of the J. B. Watkins Land Mortgage Company. Most letters address persons who have borrowed money and mortgaged their property. Letters also address local political conditions, agents of the J. B. Watkins Land Mortgage Company in Texas, and other related materials. A good deal of correspondence occurs between the Dallas, Lawrence and New York offices. The Dallas correspondence ceases after the J. B. Watkins Land Mortgage Company is in receivership, June 1895.
