Greeley, Colorado office, 1883 - 1929
Scope and Contents
In 1884, J. B. Watkins sought to expand his area of operations into Colorado. He considered the Colorado agricultural area ripe for mortgage loans at a higher rate of interest than business in Missouri and Kansas commanded. Henry Deigel was sent to manage the office and inspect lands for investment. Correspondence reflects Deigel's activity for the nine-month life of the office during 1884.
Most of the correspondence reflects Henry Deigel's business dealings with potential borrowers and reports to the main office in Lawrence. The latter half of the volume contains form letters used by the Land Department in the Lawrence office, 1884-1889.
This volume has not been microfilmed. The number "3" for the volume refers to the spine marking.
