Frederick C. Temple was born March 26, 1922 in Topeka, Kansas. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1941 and then served in World War II. After the war, Temple earned Bachelor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1950 he moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he taught at Southern University. On Dec. 27, 1951, he married Ray Helen Ricard (b. Nov 9, 1929 in Rougon, Louisiana). Four years later, the Temples returned to Madison, where Temple earned his doctorate in agricultural economics. The family returned to Baton Rouge and Temple rejoined the Southern University faculty. Frederick and Ray Temple had two children, Doyle and Myra. Ray Temple died August 3, 2012 and Frederick Temple died August 29, 2014.
