Samuel L. Patrick

 File — Folder: 1

General

Patrick was the Indian agent at the Sac and Fox agency, Oklahoma Territory, 1890-1893 and 1897-1901. The material deals primarily with Patrick and Edward L. Thomas, who was the agent during the break in Patrick's tenure. Upon resuming the position as agent, Patrick agreed to settle Thomas's accounts, which were in a mess particularly for 1895-1896. Some of the matters in question regarded goods sent by the agency to the Absentee Shawnee School for children's subsistence during that time. The affair culminated with Patrick suing to recover his fee for this work. Correspondence from Thomas to Patrick and the "Complaint at Law" are included. The items are arranged chronologically.
