Scope and Contents
A diary and account book kept by Hiram Clark, an early physician in Lawrence, Kansas. The diary section covers the period September 1854 through February 1855, including his trip to Lawrence and the first five months of his life there. Clark speaks of his loneliness, lack of faith in God, the early development of Lawrence, and the condition and treatment of some of his patients. The account section covers the period between October 1854 and May 1855, listing services rendered to his patients and the fees charged.
