This file comprises research materials compiled by Katie Armitage relating to the Gill family during the Civil War. Marcus Gill owned a large farmstead in New Santa Fe, Missouri, but was forced to leave it when war broke out. Captain Turner Gill, his son, was a private in the Confederate Army and later mayor of Kansas City from 1875-1876. Includes Armitage's notes on the Gill family during the Civil War; correspondence with author Byron C. Shutz about his book Terror at the Door; and photocopies of academic publications and newspaper articles.
