Cloth-bound notebook containing original poems written by Davis. The inscription on the inside cover includes Davis's Chicago address at Associated Negro Press, but some poems date to his time in Hawaii.
Poems include "For the Common People", "Moonlight at Kahana Bay", "Hilda", "Maggie", "Betty", "Louise", "Frances", "Blondie", "Winnie", "Madeline", "Hannah", "Lucille", "Agnes", "Rose", "Charity", "Bernice", "Flo", "Trudy", "Wilma", "Arline", "Rita", "Marjorie", "Jean", "Patty", "Verna", "Olive", "Josephine", "Jessica", "Duke Ellington", "Billie Holiday", "To A Young Man", "Charlie Parker", "Louis Armstrong", and a number of untitled poems. There is also a short draft of prose about a woman. Also includes a photocopy of a handwritten will from 1968 titled "Final Chapter."
