David Duke was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1950 and served as head of the Louisiana Ku Klux Klan (KKK), as well as forming the National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP) in 1980. Duke was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives as a member of the Republican Party for one term, from 1989-1993, and ran an unsuccessful campaign for Louisiana governor in 1991.
