General
A state of the Assiento as it concerns the South Sea Company in particular and the British Nation in general. Spain may break the contract on the grounds of illicit trade, the factory for [captive Africans] at Jamaica, and the trade to Buenos Ayres; there are other practices which defraud SS investors; the Asiento trade is good since it is entirely in British hands, and since it may lead to a union of Spain and Britain as the power in America.
