General
London. Draft of letter to Mr. Shee, Madrid. Yours of 17 and 24 April received, and the enclosure from Don Juan Baptists D'Orandayn, and H.E. Col. Stanhope of 24 April. Sir John promises courier with Original Assignments and order to Stratford to draw on the Company for your expenses: tell Col. Stanhope and he'll tell Stratford. Problems with paying here. Since 1715 you have had from me nearly as much as my whole commission, so make me a good remittance! Sir John Eyles and SS delays. Stratford insulted because I had not written; would not have presumed to write to their agent without their knowledge; Eyels acknowledged private transactions better by another than Company's public agent. SS Company showed Chev. Eon Original Assignments. I answered Sept 1713 by Mr. Gilligan who transacted the Assiento at Madrid. Eon very troublesome to SS Company. You left enemies behind you. You say Spain has had promises from England but no action; can't do anything until you let me know what promises. What's your address (using Mr. Arbuthnott's conveyance)? Excuse the amanuensis. You say nothing of Crozard's matter.
