1582: Twelve Barren Ground Caribou, including several big bucks, crossing a rapid on Little River 1/4 mile above its mouth. 1585: About 75 Barren Ground Caribou (bucks, does, and fawns) at a rapid on Little River 1/4 mile above the mouth -- some crossing, some having just crossed, some about to cross, and others passing N.W. along the farther ridge. [Published as Fig 7. in Barren Ground Caribou of Keewatin with the caption "About 75 Caribou (bucks, does, and fawns) at a rapid on Little River."] 1593: About 20 Barren Ground Caribou crossing a rapid on Little River, 1/4 mile above its mouth. 1594: About 34 Barren Ground Caribou crossing a rapid on Little River 1/4 mile above its mouth. 1602: Barren Ground Caribou (four does and three fawns) crossing a rapid on Little River 1/4 mi. above its mouth. 1609: Eight Barren Ground Caribou does and fawns coming ashore after swimming across the mouth of Little River. (Probably several shaking water off in a spray.) 1611: Barren Ground Caribou - six bucks swimming across he mouth of Little River.
