1657: Looking SW. toward the 500-foot summit of the Windy hills, from south of 'Caribou Rest Knoll? [sic]. Black spruce, Tamarack, Dwarf birch. 1658: Hide of a Barren Ground Caribou doe, about 4 years old, showing numerous small warbles (concentrated on the rump.) Rita ([Inuit]) standing by hide nailed to storehouse wall for drying. [Edited with strikeouts and insertions to read: "Fig. 18 - Hide of a Caribou doe, about four years old, with about 130 small warbles or warble scars (concentrated on the rump). Windy River, September 15, 1947." In pencil, height given as 9 cm.]
