1724: A marshy bay at the SW. end of Simon's lake, looking NW. Willow, Sedge, Black spruce, Tamarack. 1725: Two young black spruces (the larger about 4 feet high, broken and barked by Barren Ground Caribou in rubbing the velvet off their antlers; at the outer edge of a timber strip along a bay at the SW. end of Simon's lake. [A picture like this was published in The Barren Ground Caribou as Fig 26, with the caption: "Rubbing trees: two small black spruce (Picea mariana) -- the larger 4 foot-high -- broken and barked by Caribou in rubbing velvet off the antlers...] 1726: Barren Ground Caribou trails extending through small black spruce and tamarack timber to a small bay at the SW end of Simon's Lake, looking NW. Young tamaracks in foreground broken by Caribou in rubbing the velvet off their antlers. [In different ink at bottom: "Eliminate two spots in sky with air brush."] 1727: Looking east across a sandy cove at the SW. end of Simon's Lake, to a peaty area on the far side, ending in a 12-foot bluff. 1728: A 12-foot bluff terminating a peaty slope 40 feet from the south end of Simons' Lake, looking E. 1729: A spruce-dotted knoll among the hills near the south end of Simon's Lake. 1730: Looking NW. from a 150-foot hill at the south end of Simon's Lake, over the marshy, deltalike country at the head of the lake, where Windy River enters.
