1738: Barren Ground Caribou track (hind hoof superimposed on front hoof) in snow about 2 in. deep on a ridge in the Barrens. Track about 6 x 5 inches. [Edited with strikeouts and insertions to read: Fig. 20. -- Caribou track in 2-inch snow; hind foot...Published as Fig. 20 with caption "Caribou track in 2-inch snow; hind foot superimposed on track of front foot. Combined track about 153 by 127 mm. Camp Ridge, October 29, 1947" in The Barren Ground Caribou of Keewatin] 1739: Two sets of (Willow) Ptarmigan tracks, in snow about 2 inches deep, meeting on the side of Camp Ridge among dwarf birches. Tracks about 2 1/3 inches. Furrows made by dragging toes. 1743: Fred Schweder, Jr., with a three-dog toboggan crossing a muskeg on the way to his winter trapping toward the Kazan River.
