Topical files
Scope and Contents
This series contains topical records used in various board and commission meetings concerning the operation of the City of Lawrence. Many of the records reference agenda items and issues brought before the City Commission by various boards, commissions, and sub-committees. This series also includes records concerning possible city development projects and zoning.
These materials arrived at Spencer Library loosely grouped by issue topics within the three terms Rundle served as a city commissioner. Spencer staff imposed some organization on this series to help create easier access to collection records, including grouping issue topics and the papers of individual city boards and commissions together, while maintaining the chronological distinctions between each of Rundle's terms. As certain records encompass multiple topics and city boards, staff used their best judgement in grouping the records by the predominant topic or city board. Original titles were largly kept and any staff descriptive work with folder titles is marked within [brackets]. This series may overlap and contain duplicative material from other series in the collection.
Physical Description
Spencer staff have vaccumed and treated two boxes of records for mold from Rundle's three terms as a city commissioner. The records were then placed in clean, acid-free housing to better preserve the records. For the safety of patrons, these records have been grouped together in Boxes 49 and 50 and placed at the end of each of the three sub-series in the "Topical files" series. Patrons with respiratory health concerns are advised to wear gloves and a face mask when handling these materials.
