Jessie Branson was a cofounder of Cottonwood Inc., a nonprofit organization in Lawrence that provides services to people with developmental disabilities, and a founder of the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra. She served as the Democratic representative in the Kansas State House of the 44th District, which includes Lawrence, Kansas, from 1980 to 1990.
