Scope and Contents

The collection consists of 87 volumes which give a day to day account of Armstrong and life in the Kansas community of Council Grove. The volumes have been arranged chronologically as follows: diaries and memorandum books, trip diaries (Armstrong took buying trips for his mercantile business and also pleasure trips) and account and expense books.
