These certificates for one and two shares in the Susquehanna [Western] Emigration Company entitled the bearers to one-half acre of land per share in the new township, which was to be settled by the Company, in Kansas Territory. Both certificates bear the signature of John Bayless, President of the Susquehanna Emigration Company.
