Galsworthy, John (1867-1933). Letter to Miss Hooley thanking her for 2 letters and some manuscripts, which he is “reading with real refreshment & pleasure. You have a charming gift; and there’s such freshness & open air in them.” Explains that he had declined knighthood too late to avert published announcement. “Literature is of a different world from titles to my thinking.” Dated 3 Jan 1918, Beach Hotel, Littlehampton.
