Overview
This collection consists of correspondence from Robert C. McClymonds, Jr. to his parents Robert C. and Beulah McClymonds while working in Asia. The collection also contains financial and legal documents related to the Dr. R. C. and Beulah McClymonds farm estate and information kept by Dr. McClymonds regarding his medical practice.

History of the McClymonds Family
Dr. Robert Clendenin McClymonds was born November 11, 1878 in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Iowa and moved to Walton, Harvey County, Kansas in 1903 where he began his medical practice.
In 1907, McClymonds married Beulah Buchanan Gilchrist (born November 11, 1884). They had five children: Margaret Catherine, Elizabeth Vance, Samuel Erskine, Robert Clendenin, Jr., and Bryson Gilchrist.
"Doc" McClymonds continued his medical practice until six months before his death in 1962, at the age of 83. Beulah died January 27, 1978.
Elizabeth Vance McClymonds married Thorold Eugene Roberts, the son of James Emmett or J.E. and Louise Lipps Roberts. They had several children, including Clenece (later Hills), Tod, Bruce, and Bryson Roberts.
Another branch of the family, the Douglasses, include Robert Gilchrist Douglass, nephew of Robert Clendenin and Beulah Gilchrist McClymonds. He had two sons, William (Bill) and Robert (Bobby) Douglass. Bobby Douglass played football for the University of Kansas as a quarterback and was later on the Chicago Bears and other pro football teams.

Scope and Contents
This collection consists of correspondence between Robert Clendenin, Jr. (Bob) and his parents Robert Clendenin and Beulah McClymonds, as well as other family correspondnce. Much of the correspondence is during Bob, Jr.'s time working in Laos.
The collection also includes legal, financial, and correspondence documents related to the McClymonds family estate. Also in the collection are financial records and diaries kept by Dr. McClymonds regarding his medical practice. A short article on Dr. R. C. McClymonds, written by grandson Tod Roberts, has been added to the collection. This document contains a link to genealogy and pictures for the Gilchrist family.
