This collection contains audio cassettes and transcripts of interviews of seventeen U.S. men who were of military age during the Vietnam War. They describe their personal experiences of the war and the Vietnam era both as soldiers and civilians, including perceptions of the war in hindsight and observations on the protest movement and on conscientious objectors. The interviews were conducted as a project by University of Kansas students enrolled in a History 129 class taught by Lyn Ellen Bennett in the fall semester of 1994.

The collection contains student cassette tapes of the interviews, student transcriptions of the interviews, and research papers which the students produced, stemming both from the interviews and from bibliographic sources. Aside from one interview, conducted in early January 1995, all interviews were conducted from October to December of 1994. As described in the student papers, many of those interviewed were fathers or acquaintances of the students.
