Biography of J. Shelton Carey (1911-1999)
Carey received his B.S. from Alfred University in 1939 and his M.A. from the University of Columbia in 1942. He joined the faculty of the University of Kansas in 1944, teaching ceramics in the School of Fine Arts. He reached full Professor status in 1953 and retired in 1976.
