Sedgwick was a general real estate and insurance agent operating in "St. Marys Real Estate and Banking Office". The letter to Capen in Bloomington, Illinois, informs him of land settlement, rates and loan conditions. On the back side is a printed map of the four corners of counties around St. Marys, showing railroads and wagon roads

This collection contains the family papers of the Stewart family of Leavenworth, Kansas, and the Lockwood family of Baldwin, Kansas, covering a period of almost one hundred years, 1852-1950. These families were predominantly professionally oriented, including teachers, ministers, and farmers.

This collection, compiled by Kenneth Spencer Research Library staff from a variety of donors and sources, includes land certificates authorized by the United States General Land Office for real property in Kansas, as well as some properties in Alva, Oklahoma.
