The Kansas Council for Children and Youth was founded in 1942 in response to recommendations of the 1940 White House Conference on Children in a Democracy. This collection includes administrative materials, extensive subject files, meeting minutes and newsletters.

Overview Esther Twente joined the faculty of the University of Kansas in 1937 in the Department of Sociology. She was responsible for the organization of the Department of Social Work in 1946, and taught in and chaired the Department for 11 years.
