This collection includes photographs from the 1951 flood that swept over Lawrence and Kansas City, Kansas. The photographs were taken by U.S. Navy Air Base of Olathe personnel, unit NA87-2098-7-51, but it is unclear who captioned the original album (a volunteer from the air base?). Descriptions in this finding aid make use of those captions.

Scope and Contents
Includes photographs of the Kaw River at the height of the flood, rescue parties in North Lawrence, sailors and U.S. Air Force personnel from the Olathe Air Station sandbagging to control the flood waters, parachuting in medical supplies over the University of Kansas, and views of flooded areas in Lawrence.
The collection also includes shots of industrial and business areas under water in Kansas City, Kansas, including the Fairfax Air Field, frequently with views of the Kansas City, Missouri skyline in the distance.
