Also included is the parking ticket that Nick Rice tried to pay the night that he was shot.

Local news articles from the time, an article from the KU Chancellor about campus unrest written before Nick Rice was shot, and articles written decades later. A Kansas Alumni Magazine issue is included along with a letter from the editor in response to one sent from Esther Rice. Another article is a correction stating that Mrs. Rice clarified that her son was not one of the protesters.

Includes the 1971 claim that Harry Dollar and Esther “Chris” Rice filed against the city of Lawrence, Kansas for damages in the death of their son due to police action, along with correspondence with various lawyers, including handwritten notes and interrogatories, and a 1973 letter indicating that Harry and Chris Rice decided to drop the case. There is also a photocopy of police radio activity the night after the shooting of Nick Rice.

Scope and Contents Dwayne Sackman, the supervisor of records at the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, was asked to identify and give as evidence each of the records that were in his control having to do with Nick Rice. Many of the records were photographs taken on the night that Rice was shot, along with portions of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s file for case number 1-14958.
