Also includes a note from D.R. Anthony III that says, “This appears to be a sale – auction of farm equipment and supplies at the Anthony Farm, Baileyville, Kansas about 1885. Apparently there was a change of tenant farmer, unexplained, but Col. Anthony 'bid on' much of what was sold. The prices are most interesting. This farm was sold in 1920 by D.R. Anthony Jr. at a good price – about $125 per acre.”

In his opinion, irresponsible candidates who were clever campaigners were winning the primary elections - men whom conventions would never have nominated.”
