Plymouth Congregational Church Thrift Shop remembrances
The Plymouth Congregational Church Thrift Shop was founded in 1955 to provide affordable clothing and housewares to its customers and various charities, as well as to support missions and the social needs of the community. Ada Easton collected these remembrances from Thrift Shop colleagues to provide a history for the Thrift Shop.
Social Service League records
Founded in 1863 to help survivors of victims of William Quantrill’s raid, the Social Service League serves low-income families and individuals of Douglas County, Kansas, and operates a thrift shop. The collection is comprised of two volumes, dating from 1929-1939, which contain the minutes of meetings, financial information, clippings and a 1937 photograph of the thrift shop.

The Volunteer Clearing House of Douglas County (Kansas) was founded in 1973, sponsored by the Area Council of Lawrence (Kansas) Parent-Teacher Association with a grant from the Human Ecology Department of the University of Kansas Medical Center. The organization aimed to match the interests and abilities of volunteers with agency needs. This collection contains correspondence, logbooks, newsletters, publications.
