Pamela Johnson-Betts collection
The Pamela Johnson-Betts collection includes awards, laminated newspaper clippings, correspondence, speeches, and a few personal items. Johnson-Betts was the first African American social worker to be hired by the Topeka Public Schools, served on the cabinet of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as the Secretary of the Department on Aging, and is the executive director of the Topeka Public Schools Foundation.
"Pamphlets on Cherokee Neutral Lands 1868-1872"
The collection includes assorted newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and government reports on the "Cherokee Neutral Lands" in southeast Kansas, an area so-called by the U.S. government created as a buffer zone in the mid-19th century between the Osage who had lived there and white settlers in Missouri.

The documents in this collection concern the Wyandot tribe who departed Ohio in 1843, relocating in what became Kansas Territory. Most of the collection consists of letters to and from prominent members of the Wyandots who relocated from Ohio, including William Walker, Jr., his brother Joel, John W. Grey Eyes, and Wyandot Indian Agent John Johnston.
