American Indian Movement protest photograph collection
This collection consists of 32 large-scale black and white photographs of a protest by Native Americans in Washington, D.C. From what is shown in the photographs, the protest ends with police violently breaking it apart and arresting protesters.
Anna G. (Smith) Irvin's memories of early days in Kansas
Reminiscences of early days near Blue Mound. Recounts family's departure from England and trip West. Describes pioneer life in Douglas County, raids during the civil War, and Indians in the area. A 4-page "Excerpt" and map is included with the account.
Census roll of the Ottawa Tribe of Indians, treaty
Copy of census taken in 1862, including sex and age of enrollees. The census roll was approved May 9, 1864 and the library's copy was made Apr. 28, 1902.
Cheyenne and Arapaho Upper Arkansas Agency records
Accounts book and ledger maintained at the Cheyenne and Arapaho Upper Arkansas Agency, Darlington, Indian Territory, 1869-1875. More than a simple accounts book, this manuscript lists letters received at the agency from July 16, 1869 to June 20, 1870 with notes regarding their contents, inventories of rations, records of substanence issued listing the name of the recipients, and records of supplies delivered by contractors.

Dr. Mahlon Bailey diary
A "Physician's Daily Pocket Record" notebook, used as a diary by Dr. Mahlon Bailey while he was on Army duty. Bailey served as surgeon during the six-month campaign of the N19th Regiment, Kansas Cavalry Volunteers, which neutralized threats to Euro-American Plains settlers caused by Native American raiding parties in 1868. Also in the collection is a photo of Dr. Bailey.

The documents in this collection concern the Wyandot tribe who departed Ohio in 1843, relocating in what became Kansas Territory. Most of the collection consists of letters to and from prominent members of the Wyandots who relocated from Ohio, including William Walker, Jr., his brother Joel, John W. Grey Eyes, and Wyandot Indian Agent John Johnston.
