John Pope Letter
A 2 page letter from General John Pope to Secretary of War, Robert Todd Lincoln dated April 2, 1881, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This letter is Pope’s retained copy in which he recommends the appointment of Brevet Captain J.G. Leefe in the Quartermaster Department.

Photocopies of the English translation of Johnson's travel narrative, the cover and first page of the original Swedish version, and a cover letter written in 1961 by the translator, John Otto, explaining the difficulties he had doing the translation; four letters, in Swedish, to Johnson's sister in 1896, '_897, 1905, and 1908; and a newspaper clipping about Peterton Grade School, n.d. The travel narrative, written in 1885, describes Johnson's trip from Osage City, Kan. to Sweden. in 1884.

John St. John newspaper clippings
John Pierce St. John served as the eighth governor of Kansas from 1879-1882. The volumes in this collection are compilations of various newspaper clippings and political cartoons documenting St. John's career after he left the office of governor. Also included is an obituary for Susan Jane St. John, his second wife and founder of the Ladies Reading Circle in Olathe, Kansas. These items were apparently collected by Mrs. Anna Champe of Garnett, Kansas.

John Turner Miles collection
John Turner Miles owned and operated the Miles Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas from 1927 until his death in 1971. His papers consist chiefly of diaries, dating from 1922 to 1958, which document Miles' personal life and business affairs as a mortician.
John W. Dulles III papers
This collection contains 76 photographs taken during World War I of the 28th and 91st Divisions of the U.S. Army, which were collected by Dulles, together with two diaries written by Dulles from June 18, 1916 to April 3, 1917 as an enlistee stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. The collection also has a Dulles family genealogy from ca. 1780-1895.

Jonathan Carson, Traitor; Wanted Dead or Alive
This copy of a manuscript by Jonathan Carson describes the relationship of the John Brown Anti-Klan Committee and the Black Liberation Army to the robbery of a Brinks armored car on October 20, 1981 in Nyack, New York, where a security guard and two policemen were slain. The manuscript traces the author's own experiences and includes his perspectives of various other political action groups, including the Ku Klux Klan and the Weather Underground.
Jones family papers
This collection consists of the correspondence of Louise (Doherty) Jones and Dorothy Jones (also known as Dorothy Llewellyn between the years of 1929 and 1932), the mother and sister of Herbert Jones, respectively, and their friends and family. Many of the letters were written to Louise and Dorothy by Herbert during his service overseas during World War II. Also included in the collection are the Jones family tree and business letters relating to the Nebraska Wyoming Investment Company.
Jorgen Peterson diary
The diary is a daily record of farming and cash accounts from 1915 to 1916, and includes records of payments to farmers cooperative associations. The diary was transcribed and edited by his son, Henry L. Peterson.

This collection consists of Joseph Cody's letters to his wife, Elvira (Cable) Cody, and those received from other friends, arranged chronologically from 1854-1885. It also includes letters written by Elvira and those she received from friends prior to her marriage to Joseph, arranged chronologically from 1847-1853. Letters written by Elvira's father, Eleazer Cable, a nurseryman in Ohio concerned with the maintenance of the Cable nursery, are dated from 1837-1869.

Joseph E. McReynolds Civil War letter
This Civil War letter from Union Army Private J. [Joseph] E. McReynolds, serving in Company C of Iowa's 18th Infantry Regiment, is written from Clarksville, Arkansas to his parents, living in Ringgold County, Iowa. McReynolds comments on the welfare of other family members serving in Company C, the prevalence of bushwhackers in his vicinity, and his desire to purchase certain real estate from his parents when mustered out of service.
Joseph F. Smith letters
Three family letters written by Franklin County, Kansas settler Joseph F. Smith in the first year of his arrival in Kansas Territory and in the first two years of Kansas statehood. An emigrant from Iowa, Smith writes to his brother Alvin Smith of Ohio regarding the local weather, crops, prices of provisions, the threat of secessionists, and his hopes for purchase of land from the Native American reserve on which he works in winter months.
Joseph Judd Pennell and Joseph Stanley Pennell collection
This collection contains the daybooks (studio registers) of Junction City, Kansas photographer Joseph Judd Pennell, as well as various artifacts, many engraved, from Pennell's personal possessions. The daybooks from the Pennell studio date from 1896 to 1925. Included in the collection are school essays and drawings by Pennell's son, Joseph Stanley Pennell.
