This letter from J.W Rush, president of the First National Bank of Larned, Kansas is to the stockholders of the bank, dated February 4th, 1890. The letter addresses the collapse after the ‘boom’ of 1888 and the difficult financial situation of the bank. Rush asks that shareholders vote on a proposal to reduce capital, which would reduce tax and recover loses over time.

Overview This collection is a payroll ledger for the Kansas City Suburban Belt Railroad Company for 1896 and 1897. The Belt line was the beginning section of what became the Kansas City Southern Railway. While KC Southern is written at the head of this ledger, the Kansas City Suburban Belt Railroad Company did not become the Kansas City Southern Railway until three years after this ledger was completed. The Kansas Grassroots Art Association (KGAA) of Lucas, Kansas was organized in the 1960s to preserve and promote grassroots art. The KGAA is closely associated with S. P. Dinsmoor's cabin and artwork, the Garden of Eden, which is also located in Lucas. This collection contains two folders with three newspaper articles, thirteen postcards and one brochure about the KGAA and the Garden of Eden.
